Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Rihlah LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company doing business as Qawmpass ("Qawmpass," "we"). By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or using qawmpass.com or the Qawmpass app (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Qawmpass is a private, parent-led family app for raising children with Islamic values: journals, practice tracking (service, reflection, leadership, enterprise), a book-making tool, parent insights, and an AI assistant that provides answers with citations to the Qur'an and authenticated hadith collections. The Service is offered to residents of the United States. We may add, change, or remove features; if a change materially reduces what you paid for, the cancellation and refund rights in Section 4 apply.
2. Accounts and Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of any child you add to your family account.
- One family account per household, operated by the parent or guardian ("you"). Child profiles exist under your account, are created by you, and remain under your supervision and control at all times. Children may use the Service only through a profile you created, with the consent you gave during signup.
- Keep your credentials (and your children's sign-in codes) confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at email@rihlah.tech about any unauthorized use.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
3. Children; Parental Consent
Use of child profiles requires the verifiable parental consent we collect at signup, as described in the Privacy Policy's Children's Privacy section. You may withdraw consent at any time by deactivating a child profile or closing your account; withdrawal stops further collection and triggers deletion under our published retention schedule.
4. Subscriptions, Trials, Billing, and Cancellation
Plans. Qawmpass costs $15 per family per month, or $135 per family per year. Prices exclude any applicable taxes, which are calculated at checkout.
Merchant of record. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (a Stripe company) as merchant of record: Lemon Squeezy is the seller of the subscription for payment purposes, charges your card, remits applicable taxes, and issues receipts. Charges appear on card statements as "LEMSQZY*" followed by the store name. Lemon Squeezy's buyer terms apply to payment processing; these Terms govern your use of the Service.
Free trial and automatic renewal — please read. New subscriptions begin with a 14-day free trial. We collect your payment method at signup but do not charge it during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your payment method will be charged automatically on day 15 at the plan price you selected, and your subscription will then renew automatically — monthly or yearly, at the then-current price — until you cancel. One free trial per family. We disclose these terms at checkout and obtain your express consent before collecting your payment method.
Cancellation. Cancel anytime, online, with no fees and no phone call required: from the parents page or via the Lemon Squeezy customer portal linked in your receipts. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. For annual plans we will email you a renewal reminder 15–45 days before each renewal.
Price changes. We will notify you of any price increase at least 30 days before it takes effect, in a form you can retain, with clear instructions to cancel; the increase applies only to billing periods that begin after the notice period.
Refunds. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is part of these Terms: among other things, if you decide within 7 days after your first charge that Qawmpass isn't right for your family, email us and we will refund that charge.
5. The AI Assistant — Important Disclaimers
- It is AI, not a person. The assistant is an automated system built on a third-party large-language model. It is labeled as AI in the app and will confirm it is AI if asked.
- It is not a scholar, mufti, or religious authority. Answers are AI-generated summaries with citations to the Qur'an and authenticated hadith collections so you can verify them. They are not fatwas, religious rulings, or scholarly opinions, and they may contain errors, omissions, or imperfect context. For religious questions that matter to your family, consult a qualified scholar.
- It is not professional advice. The assistant and the app's parent-guidance content are for general educational purposes and are not medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or educational-therapy advice.
- Parental supervision. The Service is designed for parent-led use. You are responsible for supervising your children's use of the assistant and reviewing its answers.
- If the assistant encounters content suggesting a risk of harm, it is designed to respond with care, provide crisis resources, and flag the interaction to the parent dashboard.
6. Your Content
You and your family own the content you create in Qawmpass (journals, drawings, books, logs, questions). You grant Rihlah LLC a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, display, and transmit that content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service for your family, consistent with the Privacy Policy. We do not use your content for advertising and do not permit it to be used to train AI models. You are responsible for your content being lawful and yours to share. You can export your family's content from the parent dashboard.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully or to harm anyone; upload malicious code or attempt to breach security or others' accounts; scrape, resell, or copy the Service; reverse-engineer non-open components; misrepresent your identity or guardianship; or use the Service to develop a competing dataset or model. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where practicable.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, text, and branding, is owned by Rihlah LLC or its licensors and protected by law. Qur'anic text and hadith collections quoted by the Service are drawn from their respective sources, with citations shown. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the Service for your family's non-commercial use while subscribed.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time from the dashboard or by emailing email@rihlah.tech. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your account for material breach, non-payment after notice, legal requirement, or discontinuation of the Service; if we discontinue the Service or terminate without cause, we will refund the prorated unused portion of any prepaid period. Sections that by their nature survive (content license limits, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute terms) survive termination. Data deletion after closure follows the Privacy Policy's retention schedule.
10. Disclaimers
Except as expressly stated, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-interruption. We do not warrant that answers, insights, or content will be error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; and (b) Rihlah LLC's total liability arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived.
12. Indemnity
You will indemnify Rihlah LLC against third-party claims arising from your content or your material breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, without regard to conflicts rules, and the parties consent to the state and federal courts located in New Mexico for disputes not subject to small-claims jurisdiction. You may also have rights under the consumer-protection laws of your state of residence that these Terms do not displace.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' email notice before they take effect; if you do not agree, cancel before the effective date and Section 4's refund terms apply. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The current version will always be posted at qawmpass.com/terms.html with its effective date.
15. Miscellany
These Terms plus the Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy are the entire agreement; if a provision is unenforceable the rest stand; failure to enforce is not waiver; you may not assign these Terms, and we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or sale of Rihlah LLC. Notices to you go to your account email; notices to us go to email@rihlah.tech.
